UNFETTERED

don’t enclose me
within the palisades of time.
don’t imprison me
within the barricades of your mind.
the constriction
of your limiting web
is strangling my soul.
I need
to breathe fresh air
feel the wind
soar the sky.
i hanker for horizons
to let my compass chart.
nothing
dictates my adherence
to your blueprint for my vessel.
my body’s an unfettered tempest
my heart a dare to conquest.
you can moor me in caring
if you leave open the port.
