THROUGH THE EYES OF KAMAU (FOR TRAYVON MARTIN, MICHAEL BROWN, ERIC GARNER & TAMIR RICE)

for precept must be on precept,
precept on precept; line on line,
line on line; here a little and there a little….
                        Isaiah 28:13

We are not in this world to escape,
to hide from the dread of man,
nor are we to fear the dread
of the unlawful or flee our
homeland.

We need to breathe!

We are not in this world to cry,
“Not me,” of the unthinkable,
of the killers who paw raw meat,
or to beg for mercy.

We need to breathe!

We are not in this world to bleed
as the victims did,
or be puzzled for answers.

We need to breathe!

We are not this world to be killed.
We are the world people.
We are the feeling people.
We are the fighting people.
We are the loving people.
We are the living people.
              The loving!
              The living!
The real…people!

And we need to breathe!
